I. TikTok Shop Malaysia Increases Investment to Support Local Sellers and Creators:
On August 22, TikTok Shop Malaysia announced that it would invest up to 250 million ringgit (approximately 420 million RMB) by the end of the year to support local sellers and content creators.
The investment consists of two parts:
The newly launched JomLokal Booster 2.0 program will provide an additional 70 million ringgit, which, combined with the 180 million ringgit Cost of Living Assistance Program jointly launched in June with Malaysia’s Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, will form a comprehensive support system covering traffic, subsidies, and fulfillment.
This is a clear signal of the platform’s significant investment in the Malaysian market. Substantial financial subsidies, the expansion of zero-commission programs, and investments in logistics infrastructure will directly reduce merchants’ operating costs and boost sales conversions, while also indirectly confirming the platform’s confidence in the growth potential of the Malaysian market.
II. Shopee Malaysia Adjusts Penalty Point Cycles to Encourage Short-Form Video Creation
In August, Shopee issued a policy notice stating that its Malaysian cross-border site would update the penalty point system for sellers by the end of August, shortening the penalty periods for certain tiers. This creates a more seller-friendly operating environment and helps reduce the cost of trial and error.

On August 28, Shopee officially released an announcement regarding Shopee Short Videos, stating that uploading videos would earn sellers significant traffic and incentives. Traffic through this channel has surged sixfold since the beginning of 2024.
III. Lazada Announces a Comprehensive Upgrade to Its Merchant Recruitment Policy
Lazada is offering a range of support resources, including 90 days of commission-free sales (120 days in Malaysia), 90 days of deposit-free operations, up to 90 days of commission-free participation in the platform’s free shipping program, major promotion subsidies, advertising credit incentives, coin incentives, and guidance from dedicated incubation managers—all designed to help Chinese brands expand into international markets!
